JEMMA Gardner
Sports Rehabilitator & Therapist
Jemma has a special interest in musculoskeletal injuries, injury prevention and post-operative rehabilitation. She has a genuine passion for treating swimmers at all levels, from professional athletes to hobbyists and high school students climbing the ranks. Growing up in Dubai, Jemma attended Dubai College, where she trained and competed at the highest level in swimming before transitioning to water polo in university. Jemma has participated in numerous local and international competitions, including her swim career highlight at the Scottish Nationals. Recently, she completed the swim leg of the IronMan 70.3 Dubai in under 31 minutes.
Jemma’s background as a swimming coach enables her to work with individuals to perfect their technique and refine each stroke for optimal performance. Her passion for swimming, combined with her clinical expertise as a Sports Therapist, gives her a deep understanding of the unique demands of various swimming disciplines. This enables her to develop personalized rehabilitation programs tailored to help athletes, reach their maximum potential in their chosen strokes and events.
Jemma graduated from the University of Exeter and subsequently began her Sports Therapy career at Northampton Saints RFC. Jemma went on to complete 5 seasons with Bristol Bears RFC where she was responsible for assessing, treating and managing Senior and Academy rugby players. Jemma has provided pitch-side first aid for the UK Rugby Premiership and European Challenge Cup, requiring knowledge of basic and advanced life support as well as identification and management of concussions.
Jemma has treated and rehabilitated a plethora of acute and chronic injuries her career and brings with her experience gained across both clinical and professional sporting environments. As a keen sportswoman herself Jemma is passionate about promoting a pathway to recovery that focuses on education and injury prevention, ensuring that the risk of the injury occurring again is minimized.
